The man, aged in his 40s, is currently detained at a Garda station in Clare, and Gardaí have appealed for any witnesses to come forward.

Gardaí in Ennis have issued an urgent appeal for witnesses after several shots were fired at a home in Co Clare.

Emergency services were called to the scene of a residential area on the Lahinch Road in Ennis, County Clare yesterday evening, as a "number of shots" were fired at a residence in the Acha Bhile residential estate on the Lahinch Road.

Thankfully, no person was injured during the course of the incident, which occurred shortly after 10pm.

One man, aged in his 40s, was arrested in relation to this investigation and is currently detained at a Garda station in Clare.

"Any person who was in the vicinity of the Acha Bhile residential area on Friday evening between 9.30pm and 10.30pm is asked to contact investigating Gardaí," a spokesperson said.

"Any road users who were travelling on the Lahinch Road and surrounding areas during this time and who noticed any unusual activity is asked to come forward. Any road users or pedestrians who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in this area are asked to make this footage available to Gardaí".
