Gardai in Kilrush have launched an investigation following the discovery of an injured woman in Corofin.
In an appeal for witnesses, they say the woman, aged in her 60s, was found by a local resident, at Main Street in the town, at around 4.30am on Monday.
No further information has been disclosed publicly but gardai have confirmed an investigation is underway.
"Gardaí are appealing to any persons that may have been driving through Corofin on Monday, between 2am and 4.30am," to contact them," said Sergeant Catriona Holohan.

"If you have dash-cam on your vehicle or if you observed this lady on Main Street or if you have any information that could assist this lady's family, please contact Kilrush garda station on 065 9080550," she added.
While the precise nature of the garda investigation is unclear, it's understood they are anxious to identify the movements of the woman in the hours before she was discovered and the alarm raised.
There has been no indication from gardai as to how they believe she sustained her injuries.
The nature of the injuries sustained by the woman have not been disclosed publicly.
