The works, throughout March, will see electronic signage for the Limerick Tunnel being upgraded
Motorists are being advised that sections of one of the busiest roads in Clare will be closed for several nights this month to facilitate works.
Egis Lagan Services, which undertakes motorway maintenance and renewals work, has announced details of the closures on the N18 to facilitate upgrades of the electronic signage associated with the Limerick Tunnel.
The tunnel and the road will be fully closed between junctions 2 (Dock Road) and in 4 (Cratloemoyle) in one direction, overnight on several days a week for the rest of this month - see schedule below.
The company says works will take place between 8pm and 6am and that traffic in the opposite direction will not be affected.
Beginning this Tuesday, March 4, the N18 Southbound will be closed at Junction four (Cratloemoyle) with traffic diverted to Dock Road via R445, R527 and R510.

On Tuesday and Wednesday, a single-lane contra-flow (opposite direction) tunnel will be in operation in the Limerick Tunnel from 7.30pm to 6am.
Vehicles with abnormal loads will be restricted from using the tunnel at this time.
The Clonmacken link road southbound (towards the Limerick Tunnel) will also be closed overnight on Wednesday, March 5.
Southbound Diversion:
For the week commencing March 10 to 13, the N18 Southbound will be closed at Junction 4 (Cratloemoyle) from 8pm until 6am. All southbound traffic will be diverted to N18 Junction 2 (Dock Road) via R445, R527 and R510.
On alternating days, from March 18 to March 27, the N18 Northbound will be closed at Junction 2, Dock Road, with traffic diverted to Junction four (Cratloemoyle) via R510, R527 and R445.
