ALERT: Registration plates stolen from car in Clare estate could be used in another crime

Gardai say the plates were removed from a Peugeot 308 in the Goodwood Estate, Newmarket on Fergus

Gardai investigating the theft of registration plates from a parked car in a Clare village say it's likely they will be used for another criminal offence.

The plates were removed from a vehicle in the Goodwood Estate in Newmarket on Fergus on the evening of Wednesday March 12, sometime between 8pm and 10pm.

"The owner parked their vehicle, a white Peugeot 308 in the estate and later discovered the registration plates had been stolen from this vehicle," said crime prevention officer Sergeant Catriona Holohan.

Investigating gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have observed any persons or a vehicle that was not familiar in the area to contact their local garda station.

"We should also be mindful that these plates might be stolen to be used to commit further crimes. With this in mind, I am
asking people to be vigilant. If they observe a white Peugeot 308 in their area acting suspiciously, day or night, please contact your local garda station or the Garda Emergency Line on 999," added Sgt Holohan.

Investigations are ongoing.
