RIP: 'A rare gem' - Tributes paid across Clare after death of beloved local woman

RIP Deidre Houlihan

Tributes have poured in for Clare native Deirdre Houlihan who sadly died in hospital recently, remembered as a very kind, humble and grateful person.

Deirdre was from Abbeyville, Ennis, Clare and passed away peacefully at University Hospital, Limerick on the 6th July 2025.

She will be deeply missed by her brothers Michael, Desmond and Peter, sisters-in-law Helen and Liz, brother-in-law Frank, nephews, nieces, extended family and many friends.

Heartfelt messages have been left on RIP.ie, from those who knew and fondly remembered Deirdre, with one mourner writing,

"So sad to get news that Deirdre had passed away. May her kind soul and spirit Rest in Peace. Remembering Dierdre playing with us around town in bygone days. May Desmond, Helen, Peter, Liz and Michael and their families be comforted".

Another message said, "One of life’s wonderful people. Deirdre was a rare gem to have known. Condolences to Deirdre’s family and friends".

"Heartfelt sympathy to Michael, Des, Peter, Liz, Helen and all the extended Houlihan family on the death of your beloved Deirdre. She was a great neighbour, a very kind, humble and grateful person".

Deirdre's funeral took place on Thursday.
