Motorists are being warned the Limerick Tunnel will be closed to facilitate pavement treatment works

Motorists travelling between Limerick and Clare are being advised of likely delays as the operators of the Limerick Tunnel say there will be a number of closures over the coming days to week to facilitate pavement treatment works. 

Egis Lagan Services, which undertakes motorway maintenance and renewals work, has confirmed details the closures which will take place for several hours over four separate nights, starting from this Thursday.

The works will take place overnight with diversions in place between 8pm and 6am each day.

The northbound carriageway of the N18, including the Limerick Tunnel, will be closed this Thursday night and again on Tuesday next, August 5, with traffic being diverted at Junction 2 (Dock Road).

On Wednesday and Thursday of next week, the restrictions will be extended further with traffic on the N7 being diverted at Junction 1 (Rossbrien) while Clare-bound traffic on the M20 will be diverted at Junction 3 (Raheen).

Northbound diversion route (Thursday, July 31 / Tuesday August 5)

While the works will be carried out overnight at non-peak times, motorists who are travelling on any of the four nights are advised to allow additional time when planning their journey as the diversion route could add up to ten minutes to their travel times.

Southbound traffic will not be impacted by the works.
