Celebrations as Clare student is awarded prestigious scholarship at American university

A young woman from Scariff is set to continue her studies in the United States later this month after she was awarded a prestigious scholarship over the summer.

Clíona McNamarawho was conferred, last week, with a Bachelor of Arts in International Business degree from UL’s Kemmy Business School, is this year’s recipient of the prestigious Rev. John M. Conlisk Scholarship.

Following her formal conferring, she is now preparing to undertake an MBA at Fairfield University, Connecticut, specialising in analytics.

Speaking on social media following the announcement that she had been awarded the scholarship she said it is an incredible honour to be starting a new chapter in the United States.

"This has been a long-held dream of mine, and I am beyond excited for the journey ahead, the people I will meet, and the challenges that will help me grow both personally and professionally," she said.

The Rev John M. Conlisk Scholarship was established more than 20 years ago to improve employment prospects for Irish business students.

It covers the costs of the Dolan School of Business's annual tuition, accommodations, books, and health insurance, over three semesters.
