A series of clothing swaps and repair events, in collaboration with Clare libraries, are set to take place in the county.
The 'clothes swap and repair demos' are free to partake in and all locals are encouraged to attend for a morning of fun and sustainability.
A spokesperson for the event said, "Bring your pre-loved garments to swap, discover hidden gems and watch live demos on how to use a needle and thread to mend clothes. It’s fun, free and planet-friendly, perfect for anyone who loves style with a conscience!"
Organisers are asking attendees to go through their wardrobes, pick out five items of clothing they don't wear anymore and bring it to the clothes swap event, where it can be exchanged for something new. A range of clothes will be laid out on the day for people to choose from.
All clothes must be washed and clean. Garments of all genders are accepted but items will be reviewed on arrival and returned if unsuitable. Pajamas, swimwear, underwear, shoes, handbags, hats, jewellery and items with rips, stains, tears or holes are not permitted for the swap.
Each item brought will be assessed and given a token value:
1 token = Basic high street (Such as Penneys and Zara)
2 tokens = Higher-end high street (Like Cos and All Saints)
3 tokens = Designer or genuine vintage
These tokens can then be used to 'shop' from the swap rails. Unused tokens can be saved for future swap events.
Throughout the afternoon, live demonstrations will be hosted on simple clothing repairs which is perfect for beginners. The demos include how to sew on a button, mend a ripped seam and how to simple stich to repair dropped hems.
These are the upcoming dates for the 'clothes swap and repair demos' are:
Saturday, September 20 from 10:30am-1:30pm at Kilrush Library
Saturday, September 27 from 10:30am-1:30pm at Ennistymon Library
Saturday, October 4 from 10:30am-1:30pm at Scarriff Library
