ALERT: Met Éireann issue Status Red storm warning for Clare Coast

A Status Red weather warning has been issued for the Clare Coast as Storm Amy rips through the county, Met Éireann has announced. 

This storm warning affects Loop Head, with the Irish Meteorological Service saying that southwest to west winds may reach "violent storm force."

The Status Red weather warning will come into effect on Friday, October 3 from 2pm until 10pm. 

Also on Friday, the entirety of Ireland will be placed under a Status Yellow wind warning as Storm Amy is set to bring strong to near gale force winds, along with gusty southwesterly winds. Potential impacts of this include difficult travelling conditions, debris, loose objects being displaced and possibly some fallen trees. Motorists are being advised to travel with caution. 

This Status Yellow warning will come into effect at 12pm before lifting at midnight on Saturday, October 4.
