The late TJ Chambers

Funeral arrangements have been announced for Clare teenager TJ Chambers, who was tragically killed in a tractor crash last weekend.

The 16-year-old, who hailed from Ballyea, was the sole occupant of a tractor which crashed shortly before 2pm on Saturday, December 27.

The incident occurred along the R458 at Bunnahow, north of Crusheen. The teenager was pronounced dead at the scene in the aftermath of the incident.

TJ was an avid hurler with Ballyea GAA Club and was widely known for his involvement with their Under 15 and Under 16 teams.

He was also a popular student at St Flannan’s College in Ennis.

TJ will repose from 3pm to 6pm at St. John the Baptist-Church, Ballyea on Thursday, January 1.

A traffic system will be in operation, with entry via Darragh Cross and Tiermaclane Cross and exit via Newhall Cross.

Requiem Mass will take place the following day at 1pm, followed by burial on the Ballyea church grounds.

TJ was predeceased by his grandfather Christy Lee and his uncle Sean Chambers.

He will be sadly missed by his heartbroken parents Tomás and Suzanne (née Lee), sisters Caoimhe and Laoise, grandparents, uncles, aunts, cousins, relatives and a wide circle of friends.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision to come forward.

Road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling on the R458 between Gort and Crusheen around the time of the collision are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Ennis Garda Station on 065 6848100, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.
