Gardaí are now appealing for witnesses regarding these crimes
Investigations have commenced in Ennis following a number of criminal damage incidents that took place over the Christmas period and into the New Year throughout the town.
The first offence took place along John Paul Avenue on Christmas night into the early hours of St Stephen’s Day. The owner parked their vehicle, a silver Peugeot 206, in this area and at approximately 1:30am on December 26, two tyres on the car were damaged.
A second incident occurred a short time later in the early hours of St Stephens Day where Gardaí are also investigating damage to a family home in the Clancy Park estate. A witness reports seeing a male walking up to the home and hitting the front sitting room window, breaking one pane of the double-glazing. The suspect then left the scene on foot.This occurred at approximately 5:50am.

Meanwhile, Gardaí in the town also launched a witness appeal following damage to a residential home on Tuesday, December 30. This incident took place on St Clare’s Close in Ennis at approximately 10:50pm. The owner heard a bang and found that a front window pane had been smashed. St Clare’s Close can be found off the Turnpike Road and Gardaí believe the culprit could have left the scene in the direction of Clonraodbeg or the Limerick Road. If you were in this area on the night and you observed someone or a group of people acting suspiciously, please contact Ennis Garda Station.
Just one day later, on New Year’s Eve at approximately 11pm, damage was caused to a home in The Hermitage estate. An object was thrown through a back window of a house. No one was hurt and Ennis Garda attended the scene. It is understood that at this same time, fireworks were going off in the area. Gardaí are appealing to anyone that may have information regarding this crime to please contact them.
Ennis Gardaí also launched an investigation following damage to a vehicle on New Year’s Day in the McHugh Villas estate, just off the Drumbiggle Road. The car, a red Renault Clio, was parked outside the owner’s home and between midnight and 10am on New Year’s Day, the doors of the red Renault Clio were damaged.
