Clare County Council has announced plans to introduce six new public roads across Clare.

In accordance with Section 11 of the Roads Act 1993, the council have given notice of their intention to change these roadways to public roads in all five townlands. 

The townlands where new public roads are being considered are Ennis, Quin, Tulla, Mountshannon and Lisdoonvarna.

There are two proposed new public roads in Quin, the first is the road from its junction with the public road L-7158, serving all terminal points within the estate, serving houses 1 to 36, Radharc an tSrutháin, Quin, Co. Clare.

Under the notice given by the council, the new stretch of public road would comprise of 294 metres of roadway.

The second public road being considered in Quin by the council is the road from its junction with the public road L-3150 serving all terminal points within the estate, serving 3 houses, Clós na Ceárta, Quin, Co Clare.

This public road would comprise of 11 metres of roadway.

In Tulla the new public road proposed is the road from its junction with the public road R-462, serving all terminal points within the estate, serving houses 1 to 8, Coill an Chanónaigh, Tulla, Co. Clare.

The new stretch of public road would comprise of 88 metres of roadway.

The new public road in Mountshannon would be the road from its junction with the public road L-8079 serving all terminal points within the estate, serving sites and houses 1 to 7, Radharc an Locha, Mountshannon, Co Clare. 

It would comprise of 109 metres of new public roadway.

In Lisdoonvarna, the proposed public road is the road from its junction with the public road L-1104 serving all terminal points within the estate, serving houses 1 to 35, Gleann Bhreandáin, Lisdoonvarna, Co Clare, comprising of 280 metres of roadway.

The final proposed new public road is in Roslevan in Ennis, the road from its junction with the public road L-4600 serving all terminal points within the estate, serving houses 6 to 44, Garrán Pháirc Nuá, Ennis, Co Clare. 

Developments served by public water/wastewater infrastructure will be subject to consultation with Uisce Éireann as part of the statutory process.

These proposed new public roads are depicted on maps, which can be inspected during office hours of 9am to 4pm in the Planning Department of Áras Contae an Chláir, along the New Road in Ennis. 

Clare County Council proposes to take in charge the roads and pursuant to the provision of Section 180(4) of the Planning and Development Act, where an Order under Section 11 has been made, the Council proposes to then take in charge the services and public open spaces within the areas outlined in green, as shown on the maps, excluding private areas.

Objections or representations with regard to the declaration can be made in writing and must be received by the Administrative Officer in the Planning Department of Áras Contae an Chláir by 4 pm on Monday, February 9.
