Historic Clare club secures planning permission for major pitch upgrades

Clare's largest rugby club is set to have major upgrades to their sporting facilities after Clare County Council granted planning permission for the proposed developments. 

Ennis Rugby Football Club (Ennis RFC), located on Drumbiggle Road in Ennis, has received the green light for the construction of upgrades to the pitch including new the refurbishment of the clubhouse, with a variety of other exciting features planned.

The development will comprise of new dug outs and netting, upgrades to the existing floodlights system, the provision of three new Padel ball courts, the a new men's shed and an extension to the clubhouse.

The permission was granted on a conditional basis to ensure the development proceeds to the next stage in compliance with local environmental standards and  safety regulations.

Planning permission was also granted for reconfiguration to the existing site layout to allow for a widened entrance, two-way traffic access, a path to pitch perimeter, the reposition of the existing pitch and the changing from grass to synthetic grass.   

The approved works will also feature a new parking layout and the creation of additional parking spaces.
