Clare woman appointed partner at major Limerick City law firm

Limerick legal firm MHP Sellors has appointed a new solicitor and named a new partner at the practice.

The company, based in Glentworth Street in the county, has announced the recruitment of Kate McInerney as a partner and Claire Benson as solicitor.

A native of Cratloe and now living in Quin, Ms McInerney has progressed through a series of litigation roles across the practice over the years.

She is an experienced defence litigator who acts for and on behalf of a number of insurance companies at all court levels.

The Clare woman also possesses experience in general litigation matters including recovery matters, defamation, judicial reviews and commercial disputes.

Ms Benson meanwhile originally hails from Antrim and is now based in Ballina, Co Tipperary. She previously worked with Flynn O’Driscoll Solicitors in Dublin and specialises in defence litigation and employment law.

More than 50 staff work for MHP Sellors across its two offices in Limerick and Ennis.

It was recently named the Overall Law Firm of the Year award at the 2025 Irish Law Awards.

MHP Sellors provides legal services across commercial, property, litigation, regulatory, and private client matters.

Earlier this year, the firm welcomed Sarah Jane Whyte, a native of Ennis, to its public and regulatory department.

Previously she had trained with the Limerick city centre-based law firm.
