No Irish passports to North of Ireland
Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District Council, Cllr Sandra Duffy, has highlighted the fact the Irish Passport Office is not posting passports to the North of Ireland.
Cllr Duffy shared a social media post by Glen Campbell on the issue.
It read: "Irish Passport Update - I spoke to the Passport Office this morning and have been advised that they are still not posting to the North but hoped normal service will resume as soon as possible.
"There said there was a large backlog of applications, but thst anyone who passport has been published can contact the Passport Office to arrange collection if the passport is needed urgently.
"I asked if the Passports could be sent to another post offices he, such as Lifford for collection. Unfortunately, this is not an option.
"They will only post to an address in the 26 counties or facilitate collection in person in Dublin.
"The person I spoke to at the Passport Office was hopeful that normal service will resume within the next two weeks but could not give a definite date.
"I will continue to monitor this and update further when I hear more."
