Derry Great British Menu finalist, Phelim O'Hagan, joined forces with Soda & Starch's, Ray Moran, to open local restaurant, Artis

Derry Great British Menu finalist, Phelim O'Hagan, joined forces with Soda & Starch's Ray Moran in late 2021 to open their new restaurant, Artis.

Now, the popular city restaurant has been added to the highly acclaimed Michelin Guide as the North West's latest accolade.
It was also listed as one of the Michelin Inspectors Favourite Restaurants for January 2023.

The Michelin Guides are a series of guidebooks that have been published by the French tyre company Michelin since 1900.

The Guide awards up to three Michelin stars for excellence to a select few establishments. The acquisition or loss of a star or stars can have dramatic effects on the success of a restaurant.
The new restaurant, situated in Derry's Craft village, created a new dining experience and has a completely new look.

Artis -Latin for 'craft'-offered a new high end dining experience in the Craft Village and has gone from strength to strength.

Commenting on the recent announcement, Head Chef Phelim said: "To start 2023 with being acknowledged as one of three new Northern Ireland additions to the highly acclaimed Michelin Guide is a commendation to our incredible, hardworking & dedicated team.

"I am overwhelmed with the support and recognition we have received over the last 14 months since opening the restaurant.

"We started Artis with the aim of giving our customers the best dining experience the North West of Ireland has to offer by being committed to showcasing the best in local Irish ingredients in our dishes - with this newest accolade, I think we are well on our way to helping make Derry a foodie destination."

The chefs describe the restaurant as a celebration of local produce, married to more than 43-years of Michelin Starred restaurant experience.

Head Chef Phelim O'Hagan added: “It is with pleasure, after all these years, to put my name to a restaurant in my hometown and work with Ray again.

"Every young chef's dream is to open their own restaurant.

“Ray has been a mentor and a solid influence in my career and I know, together, we have created something magical for those with a penchant for good food.

“We are confident Artis is going to leave a mark on the food trail here and make Derry a contender for one of the UK’s greatest places to dine in."
