Derry Court: Man who acted 'irrationally' fined for blocking Strand Road traffic

Court Gavel

A man who was observed by police walking down the middle of the Strand Road in Derry blocking traffic has been fined at the local Magistrate's Court today.

Anthony Gérard Bradley (37) of Strand Road in Derry admitted blocking the road, resisting police and disorderly behaviour on December 23 last year.

The court heard that police were on patrol on the Strand Road and observed Bradley blocking traffic and shouting incoherently.

When police approached him he told them to 'f--k off' and was continually abusive.

Eventually police had to take him to the ground and arrest him.

Defence solicitor Paddy MacDermott said that his client had taken medication and alcohol causing him to act irrationally.

He said he wished to apologise for his behaviour.

Bradley was fined £300.
