A judge at Derry Magistrate's Court today told a man he would take him at his word after he said he would stop taking drugs.
Kieran Kelly (24) of Barr's Lane in Derry appeared charged with breaching his bail on February 20.
He is currently on bail charged with assault from November last year.
The court heard that police were called to assist ambulance staff who were treating the defendant for an overdose of suspected Pregablin and Diazepam in the Guildhall Square.
He was also found to be intoxicated.
Initially the defendant refused treatment but then did accept help.
He was arrested for breaching his bail conditions.
Defence solicitor Paddy MacDermott said that his client had 'addiction issues'.
He said that there were no new charges.
District Judge Ted Magill told the defendant that he knew he was not supposed to be taking drugs or alcohol.
When Kelly said he would abstain Judge Magill released him on bail to appear again on February 27.
