Derry Court: Dissident Christmas mural case referred to senior prosecutor

The case against a Derry man charged in relation to a Christmas mural at Junior McDaid House the headquarters of the dissident republican group Saoradh has been referred to a senior prosecutor the local Magistrate's Court heard today.

Jordan Devine (22) of Bishop Street in Derry is charged with having articles lending support for a terrorist organisation on dates between November 24 and December 21 2022.

The charge relates to a mural in the headquarters at Chamberlain Street in Derry depicting a Santa Claus detonating a command wire device.

At today's hearing a prosecutor told the court that there was now a full file ready and this had been given to a senior prosecutor for consideration.

The case was adjourned until March 27.

Devine is also charged with the murder of journalist Lyra McKee on April 18 2019 and is currently on bail on that charge.
