Lisa McGee thanked BAFTA for marking the end of the series with this recognition
Hit Channel 4 show, Derry Girls, has been nominated for numerous accolades at the upcoming BAFTA Awards.
After a year full of multiple nominations and wins, including at the National Comedy Awards and the Broadcast Awards, the show is up for three nominations at this year's ceremony.
The comedy phenomenon is in the running for The Best Female Performance in a Comedy Programme for Siobhán McSweeney, Best Scripted Comedy and the show's creator, Derry native, Lisa McGee is up for Best Comedy Writer.
Derry Girls' third and final season premiered last year. The series yet again captivated the world and has been nominated at every major award show since.
Taking to social media on Wednesday morning after the nominations were announced, Lisa McGee thanked BAFTA for marking the end of the series with this recognition.
Lisa wrote: "Thank you for the nominations BAFTA. Lovely high for Derry Girls to go out on. And we're in such cracking company too."
The awards, which 'celebrate the very best in TV', will take place on Sunday, May 14 and will be hosted by comedians Rob Beckett and Romesh Ranganathan.
The winners from each category are chosen from the four nominees by a special jury of nine academy members for each award, the members of each jury selected by the Academy's Television Committee.
