Derry Magistrate's Court heard today that there will be three co-accused on an indictment along with a man charged with the murder of Katie Simpson on August 3 2020.

Jonathan Cresswell (35) of Briar Hill Gardens in Greysteel faces one charge of the murder of Katie Simpson on August 3 2020.

He was scheduled to face a preliminary enquiry next week on April 5.

However, at today's hearing a defence barrister Eoghan Devlin said that they had been told that there were going to be a number of co-accused in the case.

He said that that number would be three who would appear by summons.

Mr Devlin also said that the PE papers consisted of 1,870 pages and while he had started reading them 'with the best will in the world it was unlikely the PE would be in a position to proceed next week.'

The barrister said that there would be in all likelihood be an application for the PE not to go ahead on April 5 as a few more weeks would be required.

District Judge Barney McElholm said he would leave the case in for mention on April 5.
