An arrest warrant has been issued for a man found guilty last week of trespassing in a school in protest at Covid regulations and a judge has ordered that he is not to be released on bail.
Charles Paul O'Neill (56) of Creggan Street in Derry was found guilty last week of entering St Bridget's School as a trespasser and refusing to leave when requested to do so on September 11 2020.
He was also convicted of obstructing police on September 29 2020.
District Judge Barney McElholm had given O'Neill until today to appear for his case to be dealt with but warned that if he failed to attend a warrant would be issued.
When the case was called today O'Neill failed to appear and a warrant was issued.
A police officer told the court that officers had attended two addresses but they had failed to locate O'Neill.
Judge McElholm said that due to the fact O'Neill had been 'completely dishonest' with the court once he was located he was not to be released on bail but remanded to appear before him.
