Man returned for trial to Derry Crown Court on 28 charges

Derry Court

A man who shouted 'up the 'RA' and 'we love the 'RA' has been fined at Derry Magistrate's Court today.

Stephen Gillen (38) of Beraghvale in Derry admitted a charge of disorderly behaviour that occurred on September 20 last.

The court heard that police were called to Waterloo Place due to a report of an ongoing altercation.

When they arrived Gillen had a small cut on his nose.

While police were in attendance he started shouting and was warned he would be arrested for disorderly behaviour.

Defence solicitor Paddy MacDermott said that his client had 'immediately calmed down' after being arrested and had co-operated with police.

He said that Gillen had no memory of the incident which happened when he was 'enjoying the sunny afternoon.'

Gillen was fined £250.
