Bill Clinton to return to Derry 

Bill Clinton, the 42nd President of America, will deliver the keynote address at Derry's Guildhall on Tuesday afternoon (April 18).

The event has been organised by the John and Pat Hume Foundation to present a posthumous tribute to John Hume and David Trimble, 1998 Nobel Peace Prize Laureates.

It will honour John Hume and David Trimble through music, poetry and reflections.

The artists performing at the event include Phil Coulter, Derry born Neil Hannon from Divine Comedy, young Derry singer Roe, and Tim Wheeler, from the band ASH, who played at the historic YES gig in 1998.

Representatives of the Hume and Trimble families will also be in attendance.

The audience for the event will be primarily young people from the Foyle Learning Network, Ulster University and youth organisations in Derry.

The Former President and First Lady first came to Derry in the winter of 1995.

Tens of thousands of local people stood in Guildhall Square, Waterloo Place, Shipquay Street and along the City Walls to listen to President Clinton.

President Clinton has visited Derry on multiple occasions since and will now make his keynote speech in the city next week, 25 years on from the signing of the Good Friday Agreement.

He will also visit just days after current US President Joe Biden's multiple arrangements on the island.

President Biden and President Clinton are also just two out of four former US Presidents to address the Oireachtas (Irish Parliament).
