Joe's ' Superheroes' streaming now

Fresh from the success of his debut single, ‘Blackout Blinds’, accomplished Derry singer / songwriter, Joe Allan, is back in business.

Joe is releasing his second single, ‘Superheroes’ on April 14 when it will be available on all streaming platforms.

Speaking to Derry Now, Joe described ‘Superheroes’ as being “sort of about Derry” but he said it could really apply to anywhere.

“‘Superheroes’ is about some of the less likeable figures people might encounter in their hometowns and the group mentality of their mates who refuse to admit that they are in the wrong,” said Joe.

“It comes from experiences I have had with people in the past.”

Joe penned the words and music for ‘Superheroes’ and he was quick to acknowledge the invaluable help he got from his friends to get the track release-ready.

“I wrote the song and I got help, once again, from some mates who hopped in and played different parts, especially the drums.

“We had a couple of drummers play on the track and it took a few different few forms, but eventually Connor Lynch came in and played and really smashed the track. He gave us exactly the sound we wanted,” said Joe.

“Phil O’Donnell, who produced ‘Blackout Blinds’, also did ‘Superheroes’ and Ben McDermott and Shay Melvin played on it as well. They were fantastic.

“‘Blackout Blinds’ did brilliant. I got loads of gigs about the town based on the 2,000 streams it got, which was quite impressive for a first release and being independent.”

Joe is heading to university in Manchester in September to study Music Performance and Songwriting. Watch this space. We haven’t heard the last of this talented young man.
