A woman who is accused of assaulting a man with a bottle has been refused bail at Derry Magistrate's Court today.
Carina Stepp (40) of no fixed abode appeared charged with assaulting a man occasioning him actual bodily harm on April 22 and the charge is aggravated by involving domestic abuse.
She is also charged with possessing an offensive weapon namely a broken bottle with intent on the same date.
Stepp was further charged with assaulting a civilian detention officer and criminal damage to an electronic tag on the same date.
A police officer connected the accused to the charges and opposed bail.
The court heard that police were called by a male and a disturbance could be heard in the background.
When police arrived a man had a wound on his forehead and blood on his face.
He told police the defendant had thrown bottle at him causing the injury.
Stepp was found in a room with broken bottles on the floor and she was arrested.
On reaching the police station Stepp was said to have continued 'to be aggressive' and called the detention officer 'a Fenians b-----d.'
She was escorted to the bathroom and slammed the door several times and then walked past her cell and tried to grab the cell keys.
The court heard that she was alleged to have spat at the civilian detention officer.
At interview Stepp denied all the offences.
It was also found that she had removed an electronic tag from her leg.
Defence solicitor Seamus Quigley said that he accepted this was the third breach.
District Judge Barney McElholm said he was satisfied she would not abide by conditions and refused bail.
Stepp was remanded in custody to appear again on May 15.
