Michelle O’Neill, First Minister designate, addressed a full capacity audience for the Mid Ulster Sinn Féin Conference held on Wednesday in the Seamus Heaney Homeplace, in Bellaghy.

At the conference Michelle stated: “I am determined to form an executive, and to lead real change as a First Minister for all. We need all parties working together in the Executive to have the backs of workers and families, to fix our health service, and deliver a brighter, better future for all our communities.

“Sinn Féin are on the side of workers and families, we are progressive, we are very much outward looking and our eyes are very much faced towards the future. We have strong values and we have community at our heart. And what we are building is a better future for all the youngsters in this room, for our children, for our grandchildren, because the New Ireland that I am building, is one that is good for every single citizen that shares this island. Let’s be the drivers of change, that will benefit every single person.”

Cllr Córa Corry who chaired the event, said: “On the 18th May the local council elections will take place, and Sinn Féin will be running the largest number of candidates we have ever run, with 162 going forward across the north. In Mid Ulster we are running 21 candidates for election and we hope to return with an even stronger Sinn Féin team, who will work hard everyday for all our residents.

“Our Sinn Féin candidates want to deliver first class council services, to help deliver a health system that works, investment in our local communities, the opportunity for local businesses and farmers to thrive, to support people through the cost of living crisis and to always stand up for workers and families.”
