ELECTION - Foyleside Ward

Alliance Party candidate - Danny McCloskey

ELECTION - Foyleside Ward

Danny McCloskey is standing for the Alliance Party in Derry City and Strabane District Council's Foyleside Ward in the upcoming Local Government Elections on May 18.

According to Alliance, Danny McCloskey has been a Specialist Operator in Seagate Technologies for 28 years. Before that he qualified in Social Care and Caring and worked with disadvantaged young people and adults with disabilities and addiction issues.

He is passionately committed to a better society, where those needing care can access it; where foodbanks are not needed; and where young people can get the FE and HE skills they need for a thriving future.

Mr McCloskey said: "The Cost of Living Crisis is hitting ordinary people very hard. Why in a rich country is there an increasing number of Foodbanks? Why above all are more than half the UK NHS Trusts and Health Boards reported to be providing or planning foodbanks for their own NHS staff?

Our NHS has to meet the demands of people - free at the point of delivery. We have to reduce the pressure on our brilliant NHS staff. We have to fill all the current vacant NHS posts. Too many people with disabilities, dementia and addictions are simply not being cared for.

Carers must be supported better. We have to improve the opportunities for our young people, says Danny. And as for housing - "Families and individuals need housing. It's as simple as that".
