The T1 Club, set up in 2019, is run by parents to help support other families and young people with Type One Diabetes in the surrounding area.
The T1 Club is Northern Ireland’s first independent children’s diabetes group.
The group helps young people, children and toddlers as young as one as they learn to live with T1 diabetes.
As well as a WhatsApp group for parents and a very active Facebook and Twitter page, the group holds events for young people to attend in the North West.
The group is based in Derry, but they have families travel from all over the North West and Donegal to come to their monthly meetups, children's activities and larger awareness events.
The group's founder, Edelle Irwin said she is proud to bring the Northern Ireland JDRF Discovery Day event to Derry next weekend, "It's shaping up to be a large event with 204 sign-ups so far," she said.
"We have speakers including Neil Black, Lesley Hamilton from the Western Trust, the Diabetic Duo and Conal McErlean- a coach and power-lifter living with type 1.
"We also have a panel on physical activity and type 1 and a full technology exhibition that people can drop into also.
"The event is open to all ages -we have speakers for adults/carers, workshops for teens and young adults and children's activities."
