Altnagelvin Emergency Department remains 'extremely busy' .
The Western Health and Social Care Trust is advising the public that Altnagelvin Hospital’s Emergency Department remains extremely busy this afternoon (Wednesday, May 10).
According to the Trust, there are 90 people waiting in the Emergency Department and 41 patients awaiting admission. They are currently at 105% bed occupancy.
Over the past 24 hours there was 196 people in attendance at Altnagelvin Hosptial's Emergency Department.
It said: "If your situation is life-threatening, a medical or mental health emergency, call 999 immediately or proceed straight to your nearest Emergency Department.
"If you have an urgent, non-emergency medical situation, then we ask that you use the Phone First service on 0300 020 6000 where medical personnel will direct you to the best route of treatment. This may include visiting a Minor Injuries Unit or Out of Hours GP.
