Grass and weeds are at waist height in Ballymagroarty and Hazelbank according to Derry City and Strabane District councillor, Conor Heaney.

Mr Heaney said the situation around the lack of grass cutting in Ballymacgroarty and Hazelbank was "unacceptable".

He added: “The green spaces in Ballymagroarty and Hazelbank are really in a bad state with grass and weeds at waist height.

“The situation is a disgrace, I had been assured by the Housing Executive that the grass would be cut weeks ago but nothing has happened.

“I will be speaking to the Head of the Housing Executive in the city to get this situation addressed urgently.

“Residents are paying their rent and expect that the Housing Executive would be doing its job in maintaining these estates."
