ELECTION 23: Sinn Féin candidates win first two seats in Magherafelt ward

Darren Totten of Sinn Féin has won the first of five seats up for grabs.

Sinn Féin has secured the first two seats in the Magherafelt ward.

Darren Totten was elected after receiving 2,077 first preference votes in the first stage of the count.

His party colleague, Sean Clarke, has taken the second seat after securing 1,530 first preference votes.

The quota was set at 1,377 votes.

There are three seats remaining in this ward.
