Man returned for trial to Derry Crown Court on 28 charges

Derry Court

A man has been released on bail at Derry Magistrate's Court today on condition he does not contact his mother.

Dylan Smith (30) of Lawrence Hill in Derry appeared charged with assaulting his mother and making a threat to kill her with the offences aggravated by domestic abuse.

The two offences were alleged to have occurred on May 21.

A police officer connected the accused to the charges.

Defence solicitor Seamus Quigley said that bail was agreed provided an alternative address could be found.

A police officer said that police felt that the defendant could be managed on bail.

Smith was released to an address approved in advance by the PSNI, on condition he does not contact his mother and does not take any non-prescribed drugs.

He will appear again on June 14.
