Motorists are asked to seek an alternative route for their journey.
Motorists are advised to avoid the Glenshane Road, Dungiven, as police and emergency services are currently at the scene of a serious two vehicle road traffic collision.
It is understood the road, which has been closed in both directions on the east side of the town, is expected to remain closed for most of the day.
The PSNI are advising motorists to seek an alternative route for their journey.
