A man who is subject to an extradition warrant for a case of death by dangerous driving in Donegal and on bail for drug charges has been remanded in custody at Derry Magistrate's Court.
The man who has been granted anonymity due to the nature of the drug charges and the risk existing in the city was charged with breaching his bail on June 4.
The court heard that police were called by G4S that the man had left his address at 4.55am then returned at 4.59am before leaving again at 5.05am.
Police attended at 6.00am and found the front door lying open.
The breach was accepted and the officer said that the defendant had received a final warning on May 31 for another breach.
Bail was opposed due to the fact the accused would not adhere to conditions.
Defence solicitor Seamus Quigley said that police had objected very strongly to this man being released on bail.
He said that this drugs case was unlikely to resolve before next year and that the man was also facing an extradition hearing relating to a charge of causing death by dangerous driving in Donegal.
The solicitor said that this breach occurred when the defendant saw several men in his backyard and went out to challenge them.
Mr Quigley said that the defendant was hit with a wheel brace during the incident and then ran away.
He said that he had been taken to Altnagelvin Hospital for treatment for injuries.
The solicitor said he had asked why not phone the police when he saw the men in his yard but was told part of the bail conditions were that he is not allowed a mobile phone.
District Judge Barney McElholm said that he was 'not sure' what was going on but he had 'a high degree of suspicion'.
He revoked bail and remanded the man in custody to appear again on June 29.
