Newlywed couple, rugby legend Conor Murray and Derry model Joanna Cooper (now Murray) have revealed that they got married in a private church ceremony in Ireland a number of weeks before their sunny Portuguese wedding.
In a series of posts on Instagram, Joanna went into the details of the main wedding ceremony which took place in the Algarve, Portugal in which a number of Irish rugby A-listers attended, including Johnny Sexton and Peter O’Mahony.
Joanna said the two had a very private ceremony a few weeks before jetting off to the Algarve to celebrate with family and friends. The private ceremony included just the two of them, their dog Kev and their two witnesses.

The dress Joanna wore for the private ceremony was from Australian clothing brand, Khirzad Femme.
Joanna also revealed details about the Portuguese wedding stating that the dress she wore was from bridal brand, Berta.
She also revealed that the two stayed in an eight-bedroomed villa in the Algarve, Portugal with their families for a week. Joanna called the villa “insanely gorgeous”.
The two are still in the Algarve following their wedding which took place on Monday, June 5.
Joanna, originally from Derry, was crowned Miss Universe Ireland in 2015 and met Conor, who is originally from Limerick on a night out in London in 2018 before the two moved in together following the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020.
Conor and Joanna’s romance went from strength to strength and led to Conor popping the question to Joanna in March of last year.
Joanna celebrated her hen party with several close friends in Barcelona last month.
Conor is expected to put his full focus into training with the Irish squad ahead of the Rugby World Cup in September upon returning from Portugal.
