New Derry City winger Paul McMullan admits he is looking forward to reuniting with Mark Connolly and Michael Duffy after being unveiled at the Brandywell today.

The former Dundee United player was named in the Scottish Championship Team of the Year last season, but has now opted for a new challenge with Derry City where he will reunite with former Dundee mate Connolly and former Celtic team mate Duffy.

"Coming to Derry was doing something a wee bit different, as I have kind of played at the same level for most of my career, but the opportunity to come here excited me,” he said.

"I just fancied something different and having played with Mark Connolly at Dundee United I've been speaking to him a wee bit over the last couple of months and things kind of grew and then I had a couple of conversations with the manager and I liked what I he had to say and I can't wait to get going."

McMullan has been training with the club for a week and has already been impressed with the support for the team he has seen around the town.

"I have only been here a week, but even around the city, you seem to see everyone wearing Derry City stuff, places in Scotland you see everyone wearing either Celtic or Rangers but here it's all Derry City, which is nice to see," he added.

"This just shows me the support the club has throughout the area and it kind of puts a bit of responsibility on you to make sure that supporters are entertained and more importantly playing your bit to get wins for Derry."

The 27-year-old is now looking forward to playing with his new team, but he will not be available until the home game against Sligo Rovers on July 7.

"There's a lot to play for and it's a really exciting time of the season coming up,” he said.

"I'm just trying to get myself up to speed as quickly as I can so whenever the Sligo game comes I'm available to play."
