Derry Court: Adjournment in case against dissident facing Counter Terrorism legislation charges

Man returned for trial to Derry Crown Court on 28 charges

The file on a Derry dissident republican charged with breaching the Counter Terrorism legislation should be ready on July 26 the local Magistrate's Court heard today. 

Thomas Ashe Mellon (47) of Rathmore Road in Derry is charged with failing to notify police about his use of a motor vehicle on December 9 2022.

He was also charged with failing to notify police about a telephone number on February 20 2023.

When the case was mentioned today a prosecutor said that the full file was expected to be ready by July 26 and asked for a three week adjournment. 

Defence solicitor Paddy MacDermott said that the case could be adjourned for a longer period to ensure everything was in order. 

The case was adjourned until August 2.
