(Ballinascreen win 3-1 on penalties)
ANTAIN Donnelly slotted home the penalty that saw Ballinascreen survive in Division 1 and send Lavey down after a highly entertaining evening in difficult conditions at Watty Graham park on Friday evening.
Also key to their victory was three superb saves from Ryan Scullion in the shootout after the sides could not be separated during normal and extra time. A goal from Ryan Doyle saw ‘Screen level on the stroke of half time. A Naithain Scullion point looked to have won it for Lavey but Benny Heron in the fourth minute of additional time sent the game to extra time at 0-9 to 1-6. Lavey edged the first period to lead by the minimum but it took a wonderful score from Niall Toner to grab the draw for Lavey with the last kick of the game.
It was Toney that smashed home the opening penalty and when Heron followed and saw his expertly saved by Jack Scullion it was advantage Lavey. However, ‘Scud” saved the next three Lavey kicks while ‘Screen found the net with their kicks to win it.
