Derry Court: Dog cruelty accused pleading not guilty to charges against American Bull Terrier

Derry Court: Accused granted anonymity on drug charges

Derry Magistrate's Court has been told that a man on animal cruelty charges will be pleading not guilty to everything.

Peter Toland (29) of Cornshell Fields in Derry has been charged with causing unnecessary suffering to an American Bull Terrier dog on March 15 this year.

He also faces 4 charges of failing to take reasonable steps to ensure animal welfare was met on the same date.

The court was told by a defence solicitor that his client would be pleading not guilty to all the charges.

He asked for an adjournment for several weeks so a date could be fixed for contest.

The case was adjourned until August 21.

Toland is currently on bail on the charges.
