Crime prevention

Derry City & Strabane Chief Inspector Yvonne McManus said: “We work closely with our partners in Council, in the business community and voluntary sector to prevent crime and tackle vulnerability to play our part in making Derry City & Strabane a safe place to live, work, socialise and visit.

"We have officers on duty on a 24/7 basis in the city and District; included in this is our dedicated City Centre Neighbourhood Team who are on the streets on a regular basis, on foot and on cycle patrol.

"Our Local Policing Teams are on patrol to support the night-time economy, throughout the week and at weekends and we continue to work closely with Community Safety Wardens.

“We regularly conduct targeted activity focusing on issues such as antisocial behaviour.

"It's important to report incidents such as this so we can identify trends or hotspots and direct resources accordingly. We would also encourage people to reports incidents to us as they occur, or as soon as possible, so we can respond."
