A man has appeared in Derry Magistrates Court after breaching his bail.

David Hamilton (28) of Moore Street in Derry appeared in court charged with breaching the conditions of his bail, namely by not going to the address he was released to in Belfast and being intoxicated.

The court heard that Hamilton had been released to an address in Belfast that he had been given by a cellmate.

But when he arrived at the residence in Belfast he found it to be unavailable and instead came to Derry, to the address in Moore Street.

Police initially responded to a report that Hamilton had been stabbed in the head but they found this was untrue but upon arrival, they found him drunk.

Bail was opposed due to the perceived high risk of reoffending and he was remanded in custody until September 25.
