Strabane singer songwriter Micheál Ó Dálaigh launches new EP - 'Mesmerize - Take the Journey'
The Alley Theatre welcomed home social media sensation Micheál Ó Dálaigh at the weekend for his EP launch 'Mesmerize - Take the Journey'.
Originally from Strabane, Micheál shot to attention at the end of lockdown for his busking videos in Derry city centre exhibiting his unique sound playing the Handpan drum.
The videos were watched by over 100,000 people online and he is now embarking on a tour of Northern Ireland to promote his EP in a camper van where he will perform in town centres with both his Handpan and diggery-doo.
He first started learning music at the age of 11 but his journey with The Handpan Instrument started after attending a five day Shamanic Retreat in 2018. Falling in love with its sound there and then, it reminded him of the Harp or the native American Wooden Flute. The following year he acquired one and never looked back.
Micheál was supported by Bubba Shakespeare and poet Edward Durand Poetry at Friday night’s event in the Alley.
