Two teenagers killed in overnight Inishowen road crash

A male and a female, both aged in their late teens, were killed in the collision while a third person, a male teenager, has been taken to Letterkenny University Hospital for treatment

Two teenagers, a male and a female, have been killed in a horrific road traffic collision in Inishowen overnight.

The single vehicle collision occurred on the R238 road at Terrawee, Gleneely at around 12.30am.

A male and a female, both aged in their late teens, were pronounced dead at the scene. Their bodies have been removed to Letterkenny University Hospital.

The third occupant of the car, also a male in his late teens, has been taken to Letterkenny University Hospital.

He is receiving treatment for injuries that are believed to be non-life threatening,

Gardai and emergency services rushed to the scene of the crash and the R238 is closed to traffic this morning. Local diversions are in place.

A technical examination by Forensic Collision Investigators will be conducted this morning.

Gardaí in Buncrana are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to contact them.

A Garda spokesperson said: “Any road users who were travelling on the R238 in the early hours of this morning between midnight and 1:00am and has camera footage (including dash-cam), is asked to make this available to Gardaí.

“Anyone with any information is asked to contact Buncrana Garda Station on 074 932 0540, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.”
