Ulster Intermediate Football Club Championship Semi Final

Ballyhaise (Cavan) 1-14

Glenullin 1-13

IT was an agonising one point defeat for Glenullin on Saturday afternoon in Healy Park Omagh.

The Derry champions led at the break by two points and stretched that advantage out to four on the resumption. However, they failed to build on this advantage and team manager Paddy Bradley speaking after the game struggled to find the reasons “for some reasons we failed to kill the game off, we kept messing about with the ball in our own defence, ten to fifteen minute spell we had ample opportunities to get the ball up the field, maybe it was nerves, we got turned over and that give them air but we still had chances.”

Eoin Bradley was in superb form in the opening half hitting 1-4, his goal was sublime on 22 minutes that give his side the advantage. Ballyhaise started the brighter racing three clear before two from Bradley and a Donal o’Kane had the sides level on 11 minutes in this rip roaring encounter. The Cavan lads retook the lead but Bradley with a point and then his goal after a good ball in from Traglach Bradley found the 39 year old who turned his man before racing in and buried the ball to the net.

Points from Donal O’Kane and Eoin Bradley put Glenullin four clear early in the second half. They remained four clear when Donal O’Kane fisted over 14 minutes from time but 1-2 without reply, the goal from David Brady put the Cavan side in front six minutes from time. Eoin Bradley with a free levelled matters but three in a row moved Ballyhaise clear. Bradley with a free and then Cormac Hasson pointed with the final action and Ballyhaise marched onto the decider.
