The Western Health and Social Care Trust (Western Trust) Glendermott Medical Practice Social Work Team supported by the GP Federation and Translink is delighted to host their first Chat-Tea Train event for 2024!

Following on from the very successful Chat-Tea Train events last year the next Chat-Tea Train will be departing from Waterside Train Station, Derry/Londonderry to Coleraine on Thursday 08 February 2024.

Shona McEleney,GP Social Work Assistant, Glendermott Medical Practice, Waterside Health Centre explained: “We are looking forward to welcoming people on board our Chat Tea Train next month. This event is open to people aged 60+ who have their travel pass card.

We are asking people to arrive at Waterside Train Station for 10am to give them time to get their ticket and have a chat with other passengers before we board our train to Coleraine at 10.38am.

Passengers will have the option of free time to grab a cup of tea/coffee, bite to eat or shop at their leisure in Coleraine town.

Passengers are asked to be back in the Train Station for 13.30pm to give plenty of time before we hop on board to make the return journey at 13.43pm and arrive back in Derry/Londonderry for 14.22pm.

Shona added: “This is our third Chat-Tea train event and we hope it will once again benefit people in our local community who are experiencing loneliness or isolation, provide an opportunity for people to reminisce about their early childhood memories of travelling by train to the seaside and bring joy and friendship for everyone who attends.

“We are asking people to please confirm their interest in attending this event with their GP Practice Social Work Team by 02 February 2024.

“It is possible to get free parking at the train station, as long as you retain your parking ticket.  The Social Work Team are there on the day to support.

“Thank you to Translink for their continued support it is very much appreciated.”
