History was made on Monday night when Derry welcomed His Holiness the Pope to the Millenium Forum.
Albeit it was Pope Paul VI and he was appearing in the absolutely superb “Sister Act”.
The “divine musical comedy” is continuing its run tonight, Thursday (February 29): 8.00pm; Friday (February 29): 5.00pm and 8.30pm; and Saturday (March 2) 3.00pm and 8.00pm.
And the Derry News advice is, if you can get a ticket go - it is a sensational production, which brought audiences to their feet on opening night.

There was a palpable sense of joy in the Millennium Forum and a buzz of delighted conversation as audiences made their way out of the auditorium. One woman behind the reporter said, “You would definitely know that show came from the West End!”
Landi Oshinowo, starring as club singer and gangster moll Deloris Van Cartier, gave a sensational performance throughout, with her final appearance drawing appreciative applause from the audience - no spoilers.
The whole cast together was fantastic. The singing and choreography were excellent.

The “Sister Act” off stage elves deserve a very special mention; the orchestra, conducted by Tom Slade, was brilliant. The lighting (Tim Mitchell) and staging (Morgan Large) were outstanding.
The costumes (Jennie Falconer, Louise Nipper and Sarah Banbury) were stunning, again no spoilers but look out for Detective Eddie Souther’s (Alfie Parker) wow-I–didn't-see-that-coming change during ‘I could be that guy’ with the Village People vibe.
Hats off to the whole ‘Sister Act’ cast. They were sensational and Derry responded as only Derry could - the performers took their final bow to thunderous applause.
