County Derry will be treated to a quality comedy night featuring some of the North’s top stand-ups this March.

The event will take place in the picturesque surroundings of Cumber House, Claudy on March 30.

Comedian Fintan Harvey, who hails from Claudy and has supported Colin Murphy and Paddy McDonnell on tour, said a real treat is in store for the audience.

“It's very much a different night out to what people are used to – it doesn't have to involve a lot of alcohol,” he said.

“People come in and just have a really good laugh. It's going to be laughs from start to finish with some of the top comedians in the local Northern Ireland circuit at the moment.

“We did Cumber House last year with Ciaran Bartlett. It's an unbelievable venue. Really old, stately home, fantastic for comedy. It was a brilliant night.”

The show's headline act is Belfast comedian William Thompson, who has seen big success in recent years.

“William Thompson is probably the hottest ticket in town at the moment for up-and-coming comedians. He is about to play the Waterfoot in Belfast in November. He has toured with Shane Todd and played all over the UK and Europe.

“He wrote William of Orangedale for Channel 4. He has also been on BBC Blame Game and he's one half of the Mudblood Podcast with Paddy McDonnell, which is very successful.”

William will be joined by Mr Strabane himself- Ro Boyle, James McKegney and Fintan Harvey.

“Ro Boyle, people will know from his podcast, The Big Massive Podcast. He was the founder of Strabanter. He also stars in and co-wrote Orange is the New Green, which is touring theatres at the moment the play at the minute.

“James McKegney has done all the top podcasts, he is on a lot with Colin Geddis and Shane Todd. He has a huge social media presence from his great videos.”

Ronan Boyle and Fintan Harvey run Pure Craic Entertainment, which aims to bring top stand-up comedy to rural venues as well as GAA clubs and sports halls.

“Being from Claudy, there weren't a lot of big shows or any shows that came to Claudy while I was growing up, you had to go to either Derry or Belfast, mostly Belfast. From being on the stand-up comedy scene all over Ireland and doing the big cities it's something that I wanted to bring to rural communities.”

The group offers a variety of packages for events for all sorts of venues and occasions including charity nights with comedians from the top headliners to local circuit talent.

Tickets for the Claudy show cost £15 each and are available via Eventbrite.
