The Derry Credit Union Young People’s Awards took place on Monday, 25th March, in the City Hotel.
The awards scheme, now in its 19th year, recognizes the outstanding work, accomplishments, courage, and generosity of our local young people. It is open to all aged from 11 through 18 who live or attend school in the BT47 and BT48 post code areas.
This year, 90 nominations were received from 10 post-primary schools, sporting teams, family, and friends. 17 individuals and 7 groups were recognized as runners-up or winners across 8 award categories.
Congratulations to all the nominees, runners-up, and winners.

Well done to the Derry Credit Union Youth Committee for their superb hosting skills. And thank you to all the nominators without whom the awards could not take place.
Youth Committee Award Winner – Foyle Parent and Friends Association
This year’s winner of the Derry Credit Union Youth Committee Award was the Foyle Parent and Friends Association who support children, young people and adults with learning disabilities alongside their parents and carers.
Since 2007, the group has been delivering a successful three-week summer programme at Ardnashee School and College. Each year, hundreds of children aged 5 to 19 with a wide range and severity of medical conditions, as well as physical and learning disabilities take part.
This scheme relies on 21 volunteers to support the programme. Many of these volunteers are young people who receive training in key areas that enable them to give the proper assistance to the children and teens.
For the tremendous work they do for and with young people, the Derry Credit Union Youth Committee chose the Foyle Parent and Friends Association for its 2024 Derry Credit Union Youth Committee Award.
