Derry film company to premiere four of their latest films this week

Derry’s leading independent community film company, Black North Productions, will premiere four of their latest films this week.

The premiere will be held at Derry's North West Regional College Strand Road campus on Wednesday night (17th April) at 7.00pm.

Black North’s director and producer Joseph McCarthy and his team has been working enthusiastically to highlight various social and emotive subjects through the films and are delighted to be able to release them into the public domain.

The first film to premiere will be 'St Saviour's Strikes Back', which was funded by Black North Productions, with some assistance from Derry City Credit Union. The film was produced to show a zero tolerance attitude towards bullying.

The second film to premiere, 'Moonlight Over The Maiden', is a film that encapsulates the effects of mental health and shows how people can pull together. This was shown by the excellent actions of the 'Caring Crew'. This film was funded by The Kathleen Graham Trust.

The third film to premiere, 'Missing Chapte', is a film that showed how Covid 19 had a profound effect on the community and in particular on the younger members of the community. This film was funded by The National Lottery Community Fund.

And finally, the fourth film to premiere, 'Reckless', is a film which allows the audience to see at first hand the deadly consequences of road accidents across North and South of Ireland. This film was funded by Black North Productions.

A spokesperson for Black North Productions commented: "We at Black North would like to thank everyone who has helped the organisation in anyway whatsoever during these films.

"The hardworking cast and crew along with the marvellous direction of Joseph McCarthy, allow Black North to keep going and keep producing excellent content.

"We would like to thank everybody who has funded the organisation during those four films."
